The Palace is a building of great beauty, located on a high esplanade forming a quadrangle. The most remarkable construction however, is the Palace of the Masks, with an impressive facade comprised of over 250 masks of god Chaac, all finely cut from stone and positioned in a magnificent baroque-style extravagance. Situated southwest of Merida on the road to Campeche, 103 km from the city of Merida. We'll then drive to Uxmal, declared World Heritage site by the United Nations, Uxmal, know as the “Three Times Built”. The architecture of Uxmal is among the most majestic in Yucatan. Uxmal, enveloped by legends, myths and anecdotes, poetic by name and by nature, is situated within a series of hills know as the Puuc or “mountainous area” in the Maya. The name was later given to describe the architectural style of the region. With the colossal Magicians Pyramid, impressive Governors Palace, intricate Dove’s Temple and grand Nuns Quadrangle.
